    Uresti Tax Office: Sidewalk Remove-and-Replace

In April 2026 our crew prepped and poured new concrete at the Uresti tax office, a busy public building where people come and go all day.

    Scope

    • Saw-cut and break out the failed sidewalk and entry concrete
    • Haul off debris and prep the subgrade
    • Set forms and reinforcing steel
    • Place, finish and cure new concrete

Public buildings can’t shut down for construction. We sectioned the work so visitors always had a clear, safe way in, and we left the site clean at the end of every shift.

CPS Energy Substations: Storage Foundations, Water Pond and Skyline Pours

Spring 2023 kept our crews busy at CPS Energy substations around San Antonio.

    Storage foundation

In March we formed and tied a large storage foundation with heavy rebar mats, then finished it in May. Substation foundations call for exact embed locations and elevations, because equipment arrives pre-built and has to bolt down perfectly.

    Water pond

We also built a concrete water pond at a substation, with continuous reinforcement and watertight construction.

Two pours in one day at Skyline

On May 19, 2023 the crew made two separate pours at the CPS Skyline substation, keeping the job on schedule.

  • QuikTrip: Overnight Demo, Next-Morning Pour-Back

    QuikTrip: Overnight Demo, Next-Morning Pour-Back

Convenience stores never close, so concrete work has to fit into a single night. In May 2022 we completed four QuikTrip remove-and-replace jobs on back-to-back nights, then returned in November for demolition at North 1604/37 and Foster/I-10.

    ScopeOvernight demolition, steel, pour-back

    How an overnight cycle works

    • 9 PM: barricade, saw-cut and break out the old concrete
    • Overnight: haul off spoils, prep base, tie steel
    • Morning: pour back and finish (the fourth job poured at 10 AM)
    • Protect and reopen as soon as the concrete allows

Our first QT job was demolished the night of May 8 and poured May 9. The third, at Marbach and 1604, was demolished overnight on May 15. The fourth was demolished at 9 PM on May 16, with steel tied and pour-back at 10 AM on May 17.

This kind of schedule takes our own equipment, an experienced crew and tight coordination with the ready-mix supplier. Talk to us about phasing your site.

Rain came and went for days, but the crew got the foundation ready, and on October 23, 2021 it was poured early in the morning. It was a long day of placing and finishing.

    Elevator pit

Elevator pits are precision work. Wall dimensions, waterproofing details and embed locations have to match the elevator manufacturer’s drawings exactly.

    Entry steps

In April 2022 we formed and poured the entry steps that finished off the project.

Driveway Additions and Back Patios in San Antonio

Adding on to a driveway or patio is one of our most common residential jobs. Here are three San Antonio projects from 2021.

    Concrete3000 PSI, 4–5 in. thick
Reinforcement3/8 in. rebar @ 12 in. OCEW, doweled
    FinishBroom

Patio, driveway add-on and sidewalk, August 2021

Over two days we poured a back patio, a driveway add-on and a sidewalk: 3000 PSI concrete, 4 inches thick, with 3/8-inch rebar at 12 inches each way, doweled into the existing concrete.

Patio with perimeter beam plus driveway extension, June 2021

For this back patio add-on we poured 5-inch concrete with a perimeter toe beam 12 inches deep by 8 inches wide. We also poured a 4-inch driveway extension, both reinforced at 12 inches each way.

Driveway and patio addition, December 2021

We added on to the driveway and back patio with 3/8-inch rebar at 12 inches each way and 4-inch, 3000 PSI concrete.

    Why doweling matters

When new concrete meets old, we drill into the existing slab and set rebar dowels. That keeps the two slabs from shifting apart and cracking at the joint.
